In the first meeting with the Kosovo Accreditation Agency, represented by Arianit Krasniqi- Director of the Department for Evaluation and Accreditation and Shpresa Shala- Senior Officer for Monitoring, we focused on enhancing standards for the accreditation of teacher education programs in Kosovo.
This discussion centered around developing a Reference Framework for incorporating hashtag#value-based hashtag#education into national teacher standards.
This is a vital milestone toward aligning teacher education with principles of equity, inclusion, and democratic citizenship.
The second meeting was held with the Ministry of Education Science Technology and Innovation, Republic of Kosovo including Avni Rexha – Director of the Department for Pre-University Education, Osman Beka – Senior Officer for Teacher Professional Development and Shqipe Gashi Ramadani – Curriculum and Textbooks Senior Officer
This discussion launched the development of policies and roadmaps to:
Create a comprehensive teacher education policy that integrates value-based education, democratic citizenship, and inclusive education principles.
Draft a Roadmap for Inclusive Education that sets standards and strategies for inclusivity, teacher preparation, and curriculum adaptation.
Develop a Roadmap for fostering responsible citizenship competence in schools, promoting civic engagement, ethical leadership, and democratic values among students.
These steps will include multi-stakeholder workshops, participatory drafting processes, and pilot implementations in schools, ensuring that the policies are evidence-based and reflective of the real needs of educators and students. The ultimate goal is to transform teacher education in Kosovo by embedding equity, inclusion, and ethical responsibility as core pillars of teaching practice.
These conversations are a key part of the #ValuED project’s policy development work package, working to create transformative policies and frameworks to equip educators with the skills and values necessary to foster inclusive, participatory, and equitable learning environments in Kosovo.
